Three Ways You Can Arrangement Your Furniture to Make Your Living Room as Sociable as Possible

Mattresses

Whether it’s family movie night, beers after work, or game day with the guys, your living room is the perfect place to host any number of social gatherings. In order to make your living room more suitable to these events, you need to arrange your furniture in the best way possible.

Here are a few tips to help.

The Standard Approach.

Most people arrange their living room furniture sets around a common focal point, which is often times the television. The key here is to put the biggest piece of living room furniture — the sofa — directly opposite of the focal point. Then, arrange the other pieces of living room furniture in a semi-circle around, with the sofa in the center.

If You Have Multiple Doorways.

If you have a couple different doorways going to your living room, imagine lines that angle through it from each opening creating a straight trail between piece of living room furniture — meaning you shouldn’t have a piece of furniture with its face or back to any entry way. This may mean having to move the television (your focal point) to another part of the room. This is a good way to make your living room as accessible as possible.

Don’t Put Sofas in the Corner.

Don’t put your sofa in the corner, even though it might seem like the logical thing to do. Otherwise you might make the seating area feel claustrophobic and distant from the rest of the room. Instead, bring it out a little bit — don’t put it flush to the wall.

These are just a few ways tips to help you arrange your living room furniture, so if you disagree with any of them, then ignore them. They’re not laws after all.
